ERRATA / Corrections log

Every past correction and objection, fully public.

KOUSOU 0 maintains a complete public record of corrections, objections, and editorial-decision changes affecting its data, indicators, and articles. The log is a transparency record and is accessible from search engines.

Corrections log

Newest first. Significant corrections are flagged with a sticky note.
NO CORRECTIONS ON RECORD

No corrections have been issued to date.

When a correction is issued, this log will record its type (Correction / Clarification / Retraction), the response SLA, and the submitter. Even typo-level changes are logged — silent edits are not permitted.

How we respond when a correction is required

  1. Submission received — severity is classified Critical / Major / Minor
  2. Editorial fact-check (per the SLA, within 1 hour to 24 hours)
  3. Correction finalized and recorded in this log
  4. A correction banner is added to the affected page (for Retractions, the original URL is replaced with a retraction notice)
  5. Submitter is notified of the outcome

Errata policy

Operated in accordance with the Japan Newspaper Publishers & Editors Association Press Ethics Code and international investigative-journalism standards.

1. Correction tiers

  • Correction: factual error, typo, or numerical mistake
  • Clarification: a note that supplements wording that could be misread
  • Retraction: a major error that requires withdrawing the article

2. Response SLA (by severity)

  • Critical (potential human-rights harm or defamation): investigation begins within 1 hour, publication same day
  • Major (factual error affecting the article's claim): within 4 hours, published the next business day
  • Minor (small numerical mistakes, typos): within 24 hours, published within 7 business days

3. Transparency principles

  • No silent edits: even typo-level changes are recorded in the corrections log.
  • URLs are permanent: after a Retraction the original URL is not deleted — it is replaced with a retraction notice.
  • Quarterly SLA attainment is published: target is 90% or higher; the reasons are published when targets are missed.

* Detailed policy (v1.0-draft) is maintained as an internal document. A public version is scheduled at /en/methodology/errata-policy.
